Garage Sale Spoons

Here's a picture of the garage sale spoons. I finally got them polished. Thanks to my friend Annie for passing her mother's beautiful spoons on to me!
We leave these out on the tea/coffee tray, so they get used all the time and, therefore, don't tarnish. This is something I picked up from my Aunt Ruth who always had a pretty glass spooner full of interesting silver spoons sitting on her kitchen counter. In fact, I have her spooner at the other house, and I use it every day. It's a lovely reminder of her, her gracious lifestyle, and her beautiful little jewel box home.

That's my mother's Almond Tea recipe you can see behind the spoons -- in her handwriting. She passed away 3 years ago this month. I will always miss her -- one of the most beautiful, kind, fun, smart, sweet, gentle ladies to ever walk this earth.

Mary Beth's Almond Iced Tea

To a pitcher of iced tea add:

1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 tea. vanilla
1 tea. almond extract

This is so good -- I could drink a whole pitcher by myself -- and have. Hmmmm, there seems to be a theme developing here -- eat all the pie, drink all the tea. . .

Note: I use one Luzianne's Family Size tea bag per pitcher.

P. S. The trailer is loaded (ick), so I'm off to West Texas in a couple of hours. Be back to blog world in a couple of days.
