Bike Ride

After way too much procrastination, I finally got my bike tires fixed and aired up (thanks Eric) and took a ride around my neighborhood a couple of days ago. I love seeing the pictures other bloggers post (like Mary at Little Red House) of interesting homes around their towns, so here are a few pictures of some of my favorite houses. You might think from these pictures that I live in a 'rawther' grand neighborhood, but I don't. It's just an old neighborhood which has big fancy expensive houses (like some of these) mixed in with not so expensive, not so fancy little cottages (like mine).

There are quite a few houses with a Spanish influenced architecture here (like this one below) -- from being so close to Mexico maybe? Now that I think about it, it reminds me of Provence style homes a little too, doesn't it -- the colors I think?

I love the cool shady look of this porte cochere and porch.

This one always looks so perfectly tidy, and I love the symmetry of the design.

This was a Lutheran church until a local artist bought it a few years ago, and now uses it as his studio/home.

When I rode around the corner and saw this view, I thought this doesn't even look like it could be a neighborhood in hot dry West Texas, but it is.

I love the way this house's back yard extends all the way down to the park and little stream running through it.

And finally, a modest little yellow cottage. I wonder who lives here. Oh! I do.

Have a wonderful weekend.
