Ice Wine?

Have you ever done this -- decide you would like to have a nice cold glass of white wine, but you didn't have any chilled, so you put a bottle in the icemaker section of your freezer? Well, that's exactly what I did. Then, I went on to other things and forgot about my bottle of wine in the freezer, and look what happened. The wine froze and blew the cork right off the bottle -- just glad it didn't break -- whew! Anyhoo, this Barefoot Pinot Grigio was still good, in spite of all the trauma it suffered, and it's only $5.96 a bottle. I don't think this is really how they make ice wine though, is it ;-)?

Oh! I have so done this! It blew the cork clear off of a bottle of Behringer White Zinfandel. Maybe we should buy one of those instant wine chillers like they have at some of the nicer grocery stores to prevent these freezer explosions in the future. :) The important thing here is that you did get to have a glass of it. Not all was lost!

After freezing wine bottles.....I switched to freezing my wine glass instead. I have had fewer incidents with the popped corks and a lottle less fodder for hubby!!! B
