Ahhhh . . . Better

After all the mess was cleared away and many things sent back to the attic, I think I like our simplified Christmas decorations this year best of all.

For the little tree in the kitchen, I dragged out all my old rusty cookie cutters, put them on the tree with a few candy canes and wrapped a Christmassy dish towel around the base. Not an original idea at all, of course; don't know why I hadn't done this before.

The bigger tree in the living room has very few ornaments this year -- partly because we didn't find the box of ornaments (which I'm sure is up there somewhere if we'd really looked), but mostly because I like it this way -- simple.

My little conglomeration of Santa's -- mostly bought at after Christmas sales over the years.

View from my kitchen sink -- all the twinkly lights and cheery little odds and ends scattered around almost make doing the dishes pleasant.

Don't you just love Christmas?

Yes, I do! I love your cozy house, too! Why don't we just leave the lighted trees in our houses all year long? I love fairy lights.

It looks wonderful gigi! so inviting and cozy...not too overdone...just right. I am so jealous that you have a fireplace in your kitchen.

We've collected so many Christmas decorations over the years I'm really tempted this year by the minimalist look also. Your house look wonderful and I do so love the large open fires you have in the States. Every time I see one I feel like ripping ours out and putting in one just like yours...could you ship one over to Britain please!!!! Happy Christmas, Eli
