After All . . .

Well, I couldn't let the two color knitting (whatever it's properly called?) thing go after all, so I decided to work my way through E. Z.'s Color Practice Hat from "The Knitting Workshop" (raveled here).  It wasn't too scary at all.  I think it really helped to follow her advice about carrying one color in the left hand and the other in the right, and not worry about which goes over and which goes under -- it just kind of works out on its own as you knit I guess.  E. Z. is brilliant and I love her relaxed attitude about knitting (well, mostly relaxed) and most of all, she got me through a two color knitting project without tears and without the urge to throw the whole thing out the window.
So, now I'm all jazzed (every time I say that it reminds me of James Spader in "Pretty in Pink" ^ .^) about this colorwork thing and can't wait til my ordered yarn arrives, so I can make socks . . . unless I get distracted by cloudy days.

What a neat hat. I love the look of any nordic knitting. You did an awesome job. I'm still working on my Flaming Desire socks....lol. The chart is really kicking my butt but it's fun and challenging.
I need to get with the chart reading since alot of intarsia and fairisle is all charts.
Great job!

Hi G! I'm sorry you are having a "I hate my job" week. I have those, too. Most of the time, I just don't want to leave my house in the morning. I get up really early so I can have as much home time as possible before I go off to work. Once I'm there I feel such generous outpourings of GRACE. I wonder how I do it being such a home loving hobbit. It's right for now. Your sweet calling is, too. I take great comfort in not knowing how long or HOW I'll do this and I'm so thankful that I love the kids, so thankful. Bill's in Portugal for a week but soon after he gets home we are going to Australia. Some generous friends are paying our way. I have six days of sub plans to create - yikes. I just have to tell you that I love seeing how your Jess is you reproduced. She's precious and true, like you. I find this immensely encouraging. Oh, if you don't want to publish this long comment (I'd understand with the "I hate my job" part) that's a-ok. I just wanted to come and talk for a bit.

Tell Jessie thank you for posting the wonderful neighborhood house pictures! I would tell her myself but can't unless she changes her comment format to pop-up. She did a great job of conveying her love and appreciation for a home and a place that have time and family upholding and enriching them.
