Nevermind

Well, nevermind about the Norwegian socks. The pattern says to use sport weight yarn, which I have, but then, when I looked it up on Ravelry, I saw that the yarn used is actually fingering. Soooooo, I had to order yarn and my project is on hold for the moment. Guess I'll just knit up another pair of these cute legwarmers for my little Chloe. I have to say, I was a little relieved to get a reprieve -- don't know how I'd pay close attention to all the great Olympic events with eyes and attention glued to a tedious chart ;-).

ETA 2/20:  Last night, as I was reading E. Z.'s "Knitting Workshop", I discovered that the type of knitting done in the Norwegian Sock pattern is called Norwegian knitting (two colors), not fair isle (which apparently refers to specific methods originating in the area of the Shetland islands?) -- who knew?  Just when I think (maybe) I know a little about knitting, I find out I've just scratched the surface -- oh well, keeps it interesting.
