Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm leaving in the morning to go out West for a few days.   Next Wednesday, we'll all pile into multiple vehicles and go to Fredericksburg where we've rented a little house for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  Before we leave town Wednesday, we're picking up all of our side dishes and a couple of pies from a local  (down home cooking) catering place.  On Thursday morning, Jess & I will throw a turkey in the oven, heat up our pre-made side dishes, pull the desserts out of the fridge and we're done (yay!).  We might even use paper plates (I know, I know . . .).  I love Thanksgiving, but as we all know, it's a lot (a lot!!) of work, so I'm really looking forward to this.  As I've mentioned before, we love Fredericksburg, and there will be a lot of fun holiday things going on next weekend.  And I think we might tour one or two of the wineries in the area (Becker & Fall Creek) while we're there -- have been meaning to do that for a while now.  And do you think we can talk the guys into going to the Luckenbach Thanksgiving Dance Saturday night -- we'll see ^v^.

So, I've been trying to get my Christmas decorations done before I leave, but so far, I've only managed to get my little conglomeration of Santas to their post by the front door and the kitchen mantle done.

(one down! looks like a rushed job, doesn't it?  crooked pics & trees - oh well ^v^)

(found these little letter blocks on Ebay the other day -- been having fun with them)

(Santas on duty to welcome visitors)

I'm going to try to finish today, so guess I better step away from the computer.  Wish me luck!

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Have a wonderful holiday! I used to loved Thanksgiving when we were living in the US - even though I'm British I think it's a holiday we should adapt over here - I'm trying to get my girls to think of the things they're thankful for, which is a start!

What a gorgeous blog you have and what a gorgeous time of the year to read it for the first time! And I am particularly impressed by the illuminated Paris picture- not least because I'll be spending a Christmas laden weekend there very soon! Happy Thanksgiving, as we in the frozen North don't say because we're an ungrateful lot!

have a great Thanksgiving! Sounds like lots of wonderful plans for enjoying the holiday are in place. I'm going to decorate my family room to get a jump on the Christmas season, but the rest of the house will have to wait until after the turkey is all eaten!

Thanks Dotty! I agree, you folks across the pond need to have Thanksgiving too -- makes November cheerier ;).

Hi Miss Stitching Under Oaks,
You're so right to wait until after Thanksgiving, ;)! I just knew I'd be trying to play catch up if I didn't get mine done before I left. Just now finished -- pooped!

Hello Magsmcc,
Thanks so much for your kind comment! Lucky you going to Paris soon! And the picture you mention was inherited from one of my aunts --- thanks for noticing. It's one of my favorite things.
Blessings,
G

I really like your Carl Larsson blog banner. He's so good. I also think you've got a roaring start on your holiday decor. It's amazing! I like the kitchen mantle.

Have a joyful Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

Hi G,

I think your house looks beautiful! I can only imagine how lovely it will be to come back home to it.

Hope you and your wonderful family have a fantastic Thanksgiving and a very special time together.

I really like Dotty's suggestion - I think that is a family tradition that we will start this year too.

PS Have a sip at the wineries for me too ;-)

Your holiday sounds fun! Our family is getting more spread out (toward south tx) and the idea of a house in the hill country sounds like a fun way to get together. This year everyone is coming to this area (north of Dallas). Have a great trip!
I really like your Christmas decor. Very cozy. I was hoping to see more of your fireplace. I detect a gentle arch in the opening. Something about arches like that really appeals to me.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, you and yours will have a fantastic Thanksgiving "do" and then you'll come home to all that happy around your house! I love your kitchen mantle - it ALWAYS welcomes and radiates magic!
You are so lovely, G.

Happy Thanksgiving ! Your plans sound great! The easier the better in my book. I'm impressed with your Christmas decorating. I usually wait awhile but this year I'm diving in right away. Clearly you all do - I'm going to join the crowd.

Look at that awesome header you created!! I love it!!
We decorated early because of travel as well. I enjoyed walking in the house and having the decorations up and ready to turn on. those blocks...those candy canes...the snow falling down...all just wonderful!

Oh thank you Sweet Girl! I'm terrible at headers -- takes me ages ;).
Isn't it so wonderful to have the decorations all done!? Like you, I sooo enjoyed walking into the house after several days away from home to see it all lit up and merry.
Blessings,
G
